20th February, 2023 — Good Sports awards

Warwick Greenwood CC is WA Club of the Year

Warwick Greenwood Cricket Club was announced the 2022 WA Good Sports Club of the Year at the Good Sports Awards.

“One of the areas we wanted to improve was around alcohol, smoking, and in general, the health of our members. Good Sports gave us the tools to be better in this area. Having an alcohol policy, smoking policy, safe transport policy, amongst others, has really laser focused us on being the best club we can be for our members,” said Club President, Lincoln Rollo.

Hosted by the Alcohol and Drug Foundation at Parliament House, Canberra in February 2023, the Awards ceremony recognised Good Sports clubs and their dedicated volunteers from across the country who are passionate about community, their members and making their club the very best it can be.

Everyone welcome here

Lincoln said that the ‘Red Family’ has an inclusive culture, where everyone is welcome. Under 18s don’t pay match fees, and fees for female players are substantially reduced in a bid to encourage participation.

The club has also organised Rounds dedicated to promoting mental health awareness and to raise money for Beyond Blue and other charities dedicated to improving mental health.

“We pride ourselves on being as open a club as possible and being able to take in anyone and everyone who is looking to play cricket, no matter what their skillset is. When we say we treat the cricket club like a family, we really do embrace that as the Red Family,” said Lincoln.
