Patrick Carlin crowned WA Volunteer of the Year

Patrick Carlin from Kelmscott Baseball Club was named the 2023 Good Sports Western Australian Volunteer of the Year. He was recognised for being the beating heart of his club and going beyond the usual undertakings of a volunteer.

Kelmscott Baseball Club Junior Coordinator, Nicole Biancotti said Patrick is passionate about encouraging children to participate in team sports and promoting better mental and physical health.

“Patrick has been involved in the clubs for over 15 years and is currently a player and ‘A Grade’ coach in the club’s senior baseball league, as well as a coach for two junior teams,” Nicole said.

Hosted by the Alcohol and Drug Foundation at Parliament House, Canberra in February 2024, the Awards ceremony recognised Good Sports clubs and their dedicated volunteers from across the country who are passionate about community, their members and making their club the very best it can be.

A volunteer who has made a huge impact

As the Junior Co-ordinator, Patrick supports various other teams and connects with local primary schools to showcase his club and introduce local children and their families to sport and team participation.

“Patrick has made a huge impact on the club, bringing in over 20 new members and families from our local community this season,” Nicole said.

“Inclusive of everyone, and passionate about sport, our club, and the improvement of children’s lives, Patrick is loved and valued by all – we truly appreciate all he has done for our kids, club and community.”
