29th March, 2022 — Good Sports awards

Monash Demons are VIC Club of the Year!

Monash Demons All Abilities Football Club was crowned Victoria Good Sports Club of the Year for promoting inclusion and a healthy lifestyle for all members, regardless of playing ability.

“Our motto is ‘see the ability, not the disability’. The Monash Demons All Abilities Football Club is all about inclusion and we are passionate about offering opportunities to those with a disability to be the best they can at whatever they do,” said club President Greg Whitehead.

“Good Sports is key to supporting our vision, and although we’re a small team, we feel we’ve been able to create a family environment that is welcoming to everyone and promotes inclusion in decision-making at the club.”

Congratulations to the winners

Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence MP congratulated the finalists.

“Backing initiatives that increase all-abilities opportunities for Victorians – as participants, instructors, coaches, volunteers and administrators - is so important,” Minister Spence said.

“I congratulate Monash Demons All Abilities Football Club and every incredible Victorian Good Sports Awards finalist demonstrates the impact community sport has in shaping positive, life-long behaviours.”

Hosted by the Alcohol and Drug Foundation in Melbourne in March 2022, the Awards ceremony recognised Good Sports clubs and their dedicated volunteers from across the country who are passionate about community, their members and making their club the very best it can be.
