Randwick City Football Club are Safe Transport champions

Randwick City Football Club has been recognised with the 2024 Good Sports Safe Transport Award for its outstanding commitment to ensuring members get to and from club events safely.

Club spokesperson Richard Baldwin said the Sydney club has embedded Good Sports values since its formation, with member safety and wellbeing top priorities.

“Good Sports has strengthened our approach to responsible alcohol management – we’ve eliminated unregulated post-match drinking, secured a liquor licence, and ensure all alcohol-related events follow RSA guidelines,” Richard said.

Hosted by the Alcohol and Drug Foundation at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in April 2025, the Awards ceremony recognised Good Sports clubs and their dedicated volunteers from across the country who are passionate about community, reducing harms from alcohol and other drugs, and making their club the very best it can be.

Getting home safe a top priority

“Safe transport is a top priority, and we work closely with venues to arrange courtesy buses, pre-book taxis, offer Uber voucher raffles, and most importantly select event locations with ready access to public transport.

“Every event’s advertising includes clear safe transport messaging, and our club leaders actively monitor member welfare.”

Beyond safe transport, RCFC has fostered a culture of inclusivity, participation, and fun.

“Good Sports gave us the opportunity to be widely accepted as a club for all. We have no doubt that being Good Sports-accredited helped us achieve our Eastern Suburbs Football Association Inc. membership and expand our playing roster to include women and juniors,” Richard said.
