Pyramid Hill Football Netball are safe transport heroes

Pyramid Hill Football Netball Club from Victoria are a high-achieving bunch. In 2019, the club was crowned Good Sports Safe Transport Club of the Year, because of its strong commitment to road safety.

The club was honoured at the national Good Sports Awards in Canberra. It received $1000 for its achievement.

An effective vehicle to deliver safety messages

“There are too many lives lost through road accidents around here. Road deaths are over-represented in our rural area. Our community recognises that Pyramid Hill Football Netball Club is an effective vehicle to deliver safety messages. Particularly for young people and families,” President Bruce Moon said.

“In small rural communities like Pyramid Hill the local football netball club has the ability to impact positively on the social, emotional and physical wellbeing of our young people and their families. Good Sports helps us so we can it right,” Bruce added.

Safe transport initiatives through social media

Because of these reasons, Pyramid Hill champion the cause of road safety. The club organises transport home from club events. In addition, they actively promote safe transport initiatives through social media and announcements from senior leadership.

Bruce says the Good Sports program has helped the club build a culture that prioritises the health and safety of its members.
