3rd April, 2025 — Good Sports awards
Pints Netball Club named NT Club of the Year
Pints Netball Club has been awarded the 2024 Good Sports Northern Territory Club of the Year for its dedication to creating a safe, inclusive, and family-friendly environment. Senior Coordinator Karen Parker was also named runner-up Good Sports NT Volunteer of the Year for her outstanding contributions to the club and community.
Club President Rachelle Tinning said Good Sports has helped reinforce the club’s commitment to safety and inclusivity, particularly through safe transport and alcohol management policies at events.
“We’ve made key changes, including removing alcohol from fundraising prizes and presentation night tickets, ensuring members of all ages feel comfortable and have a safe way home,” Rachelle said.
Hosted by the Alcohol and Drug Foundation at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in April 2025, the Awards ceremony recognised Good Sports clubs and their dedicated volunteers from across the country who are passionate about community, reducing harms from alcohol and other drugs, and making their club the very best it can be.
A star volunteer
Rachelle explains that volunteer Karen embodies integrity in every aspect of her involvement with the club.
“Karen has been an invaluable member of the Pints Netball Club, particularly in her role as the Senior Coordinator and Coach for our All-Abilities team. Her dedication and passion for netball are evident in her countless contributions to the club and the broader community,” Rachelle continued.
“Karen's involvement goes beyond just coaching. She mentors players, organises training sessions, and is always willing to step in when needed. She’s invested in safe practices and is well versed in our alcohol and drug harm policies and procedures.”
Pints Netball Club’s efforts have seen it as the proud winner of many awards over the past few years, including the 2023 Good Sports NT Club of the Year runner-up.
