3rd April, 2025 — Good Sports awards
Toni Brown named NT Volunteer of the Year
Nightcliff Tigers Baseball Club Secretary Toni Brown was awarded the 2024 Good Sports NT Volunteer of the Year for her outstanding dedication to the club and community. And, the club has been named runner-up Good Sports NT Club of the Year.
Club President Mark MacDonald said being part of Good Sports reinforces the club’s commitment to the wellbeing of their members and community.
“Good Sports inspires us because it offers a structured, supportive framework that has helped us strengthen policies around responsible alcohol management, mental health support, and family-friendly environments,” Mark said.
“We’ve introduced alcohol-free zones, trained staff in responsible service, and implemented guidelines to encourage moderate drinking at events. Good Sports ensures we continue to evolve and set a positive example in the community.”
Hosted by the Alcohol and Drug Foundation at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in April 2025, the Awards ceremony recognised Good Sports clubs and their dedicated volunteers from across the country who are passionate about community, reducing harms from alcohol and other drugs, and making their club the very best it can be.
An inspiring force
Mark praised Toni Brown as an inspiring force, instrumental in fostering a safe and welcoming club culture.
“Our champion volunteer, Toni Brown, has been an inspiring force at the club. She stands out for her dedication and genuine care for every individual,” Mark continued.
“Toni’s played a critical role in our alcohol management practices, helping implement responsible service policies and promoting a family-friendly atmosphere. Her efforts in these areas have reduced risk factors and empowered members to make healthier choices, making a lasting impact on our club culture.”
