Glenorchy District FC are award winners

Glenorchy District Football Club is the winner of 2020’s Good Sports Tackling Illegal Drugs Club of the Year. The Hobart club was chosen as the Good Sports Award winner for preparing their club to react appropriately to illegal drug-related issues should they arise.

Being prepared is half the battle won at Glenorchy District FC

At Glenorchy District, they know how important is to set a standard of behaviour for everyone to follow. They also know it’s important for sports clubs to plan ahead and show members they care. Part of putting illegal drugs as a section in the club policy, is making sure there’s a fair way to react if something goes wrong. The club is also able to help any members if they notice someone is having a hard time.

“Our club recognises the important role that sports club play in the wellbeing of communities. We as a club dedicated to building and strengthening our unique area and making a real difference in the lives of our players, families and wider community,” said Junior Development Officer, Joel Berry.

“Through our Good Sports illegal drug policy, we now have a consistent referral and support process in place at our club to tackle any drug related issues at our club should they arise. We also ensure that both our committee members and coaches are aware of these processes and can adequately work with relevant players to ensure a positive outcome,” said Joel.

Nominations are now open for the 2021 Good Sports Awards! Entry is easy, find out more.
