Top End Judo Academy crowned NT Club of the Year

Taking out the top award in the Northern Territory was Tiwi Island’s Top End Judo Academy. It was crowned the 2023 Good Sports NT Club of the Year, for going above and beyond in making a healthy and inclusive sporting environment.

Committee Member, Clair McKenna said the club strives to achieve a sense of belonging by encouraging diversity, welcoming different perspectives, and ensuring everyone feels heard and valued.

Hosted by the Alcohol and Drug Foundation at Parliament House, Canberra in February 2024, the Awards ceremony recognised Good Sports clubs and their dedicated volunteers from across the country who are passionate about community, their members and making their club the very best it can be.

“Our club is constantly evolving and improving, and one of the ways we do that is through the Good Sports program,” Clair said.

“Good Sports has given our club leaders confidence to have informed discussions around physical and mental health, and we’re now able to better encourage responsible decisions around alcohol and other drugs, both on and off the field.”
