Great Clubs, Great Communities
“Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does.” Nelson Mandela
A great man once said that ‘sport has the power to change the world.’ At Good Sports, we know this to be true.
Community sport is special. It empowers people and inspires others. Sporting clubs are places to learn life lessons and meet great mates. The right club can become like a second family.
For this reason, local sporting clubs are in a unique position to influence their members, visitors and the community in general. They have the opportunity to change lives and the world we live in.
A 2015 study of Australian Rules football clubs looked at the way our general wellbeing can change just by being a part of a healthy sporting club.
The research found that for every $1 spent on a local footy club, there was at least a $4.40 return on investment in social value. Being involved in a club made people more connected with their community and improved their mental health. It even helped them to find jobs.
But with great power, comes great responsibility…
The best sporting clubs are aware of their role as influencers and work hard to provide a healthy, positive and nurturing environment for all of their club members and guests to enjoy.
By role-modelling the right behaviours and offering a safe place to play sport, clubs are better-positioned to leave a lasting and positive mark on their members lives.
Good Sports works together with local sporting clubs, helping them to ensure they have strong foundations in place to provide a safe and supportive environment for everyone to enjoy sport.
We all love our sporting clubs; great clubs will love us right back.
