Wallsend Football Club is 2011 Club of the Year
In the Newcastle region Wallsend Football club has been recognised for their commitment to providing a healthy and inclusive sporting environment by being named the NSW Good Sports Club of the Year for 2011, putting football and family first.
The award recognises the most outstanding Good Sports club in NSW to reward the club that has fully embraced program philosophies and best implemented program criteria, including no alcohol as player awards and no drinking competitions.
Established in 1887, the club (affectionately known as ‘The Red Devils’) has a long, proud history and a golden future with plans for even greater involvement and engagement by their local community.
Wallsend Football Club President Aaron Cottrell says ‘The club offers friendly and safe club facilities which comply with Liquor Licensing’s legal requirements. An important part of that was to have our bar servers RSA-trained in responsible service of alcohol.’
