Paynesville Football Netball Club go straight to the top
At Paynesville in the East Gippsland Football League we joined with Good Sports to assist us with reducing the alcohol consumption within our membership. With the information and training we received we have been able to establish a family friendly club.
In 2011 we had a very unstable year with little on field success, division within the club, players and members deserting the club. This led to a reduction in gate monies, memberships, sponsorships and player morale. By adopting the knowledge we had through Good Sports and ensuring everyone was trained and informed we have turned things around from being the easy beats to being the ladder leader, as well as;
- a fully functioning senior committee and a full junior committee, which we have not had for ten years,
- players returning wanting to be a part of our success followed by,
- an increase in sponsorship, membership and gate takings.
Our junior clubs both football and netball are functioning better as is Net Set Go and Aus Kick. This turnaround has resulted from our association with the Good Sports program as people realised there are other ways to raise funds instead of selling more alcohol.
