Mannum sports club receives support from local Mayor
Mannum Bowling Club and Mannum Rowing Club have been awarded Level 1 and Level 2 accreditations of the Good Sports program respectively.
Mannum Bowling Club President, Gary Odgers, said their level 1 accreditation was a great achievement in their goal to promote positive examples around alcohol in their local community.
“We are glad as a club to be involved with the Good Sports program. Even though we have only just gained level one, some of our members have got on board quickly and we have possibly 10 members wanting to sit for the Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) course coming up as part of the program.”
Gary said that another positive to come out of joining the program is the Mayor coming on board as the club’s independent nominee.
“We thank Mayor David Burgess for accepting that position as well as having the confidence in us as a club that we will get to our final destination of level 3.
“I feel sure that our joining Good Sports will help us to become a more family oriented club, boost membership and assist us in becoming a fantastic role model for other sports clubs.”
Both clubs are leading the way in responsible alcohol management in the community.
